Character Information
*Character Name: Grimlock
*Character Canon: Fall of Cybertron
*Age: Adult, likely about middle aged
*Race: Cybertronian/Tyrannosaurus Rex hybrid
*Timeline/Pull Point: Chapter 11: Grimlock Unleashed. Right after breaking free from his containment area.

*History: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Grimlock_%28Prime%29

*Personality:

Let's get this out of the way first off. One of the main traits that defines Grimlock is that he is an extremely angry individual. He's easy to set off into a fit of rage just because there are several things that he dislikes or outright hates. This rage also makes him extremely vicious and destructive; a calmer mech probably wouldn't keep the severed heads of enemies in a locker as trophies, after all. He's not a mech who is easy to get along with because of it and his rage is terrifying to both Autobots and Decepticons alike.

As well as that, Grimlock is also very arrogant and stubborn. He borders on being an ego maniac. A mech who is not as strong as him or is able to defeat him is not worth any respect. He gets along best with other strong, violent mechs and is frustrated with and impatient with those who are cautious. Optimus Prime never garnered much respect from him as he believes him to be too cautious and thus an incompetent leader. It clashes directly with Grimlock's own style: shock and awe, cut directly through the thick of battle.

Grimlock can pretty much be equated to a cybertronian jock. Not so much in the way of being a sports star, but the stereotypical personality. Egotistical and rugged in demeanor. He decorates his hab suite in huge swords and 'trophies' relating to his skill as a warrior. He unfortunately isn't very cleanly either; the room is littered with empty fuel cans, assorted crates, ammo, weaponry, and datapads. At the edge of his quarters is his own personalized chair, situated right in front of a large screen. The channels indicate interest in fitness, violent cartoons, and keeping an eye on 'brainier' mechs like Perceptor and Jetfire.

Despite all his flaws, Grimlock has an extremely strong strength of will. It's what originally appealed to Shockwave, making him the most ideal and powerful of his experimental subjects. His great strength of will is what allowed him to endure the horrible torture and pain of his reconfiguration, but it proved that his sense of self was weaker than his dedication to his team and the Autobot faction. His determination and sense of duty is what preserved what was left of himself and eventually lead to his escape from Shockwave's containment area, but he wasn't completely untouched by the experimentation.

Although not stupid, the experimentation has impaired his ability to think rationally. He has issues with forming coherent thoughts and his speech suffers from it. If he concentrates he is able to speak normally, but for the most part Grimlock became even more quick to irrational reactions, anger, and communicates mainly in broken speech and grunts.

*Powers/Abilities:

Let's start with Grimlock's size. Grimlock is about twice the size of Optimus Prime and stands roughly only a few feet shorter than Bruticus, who is a massive combiner. Generally size isn't so much of a power/ability, but Grimlock uses his massive size in combat well, crushing smaller mechs underfoot or simply lifting them up to render them helpless to his attacks.

On top of that, he is an extremely skilled warrior. Unlike most other cybertronains, he does not carry any long ranged weaponry. Instead Grimlock heads into battle with just a sword and shield. Despite his lack of ranged weaponry, it hardly is a weakness. His frame is extremely resilient and is able to withstand much more damage than the average mech. His massive size and skill with his sword and shield means that his stroke has an impressive range and with sheer brute force, most often one stroke is enough to slice an average mech in two.

Grimlock used to turn into a cybertronian tank, but thanks to Shockwave, his altform and body was altered dramatically. His CNA has been mixed with the DNA of a tyrannosaurus rex, and such his altform is now a huge dinosaur beast mode. He can only transform when he loses himself to his anger, but in this altform his plating is twice as strong. He possesses the ability to breathe fire from his jaws.

His power comes at a cost, however. To make his already impressive strength more formidable, Shockwave rerouted the power to his cerebral circuits to his jaws, arms, and legs. It's a miracle he even speak.

Oh and he can eat other cybertronians.

Reference

*Inventory: Energon sword and shield. It is able to fold up its blades to become more compact and tuck against his frame. It's likely integrated in his frame, as the weapon was not removed by Shockwave.
*Starting Polarity: Megatronus

If AU, how does your character differ from canon?:

Writing Samples
*First Person Sample:

[ He's not really a communications mech. That wasn't his job. His job had always been to make the hard decisions, be the first one in there, the one to make the bold movements. He used comms only when necessary. ]

WHERE IS MY TEAM? Where are the others!

[ That probably gets the point across. It's about the most he can articulate at this level of fury. It was hard to think, and he just clutches at the air uselessly, balling his hands into fists. ]

Do not hide them from me. Will tear all who stand in way apart!

*Third Person Sample:

Pain. Hurts... Hurts!

Grimlock's circuits felt like they were on fire. Like acid was being poured through his fuel lines. His internals felt twisted, his own frame completely alien... Wrong. Everything felt wrong. It was hard to think, hard to focus, his thoughts a whirlwind of broken memories, half formed ideas, urges. He remembered... why can't he remember? WHY IS IT SO HARD TO THINK?

Grimlock snarls in frustration, his optics abruptly onlining in a violent burst of consciousness. Where is he? His hands are splattered with energon, the remains of an acolyte crushed in his palms. The last thing he remembered was--

That infuriating smirk on Starscream's face, just before he lifts up off the ground, thrusters steadily raising him to optic level. He thinks he can control him, bargain with him for his loyalty. Slavery.

It makes the rage boil to the surface.

"No thanks. I'll free myself," he snarls, right before he jerks forward hard enough to--

No, he was remembering wrong. That had happened a bit ago. Things had happened since then.

Shockwave, surveying his body, his singular optic appraising his work. He kept a safe distance away, although he showed no sign of fear of the groggy, barely conscious Autobot. He lifts a hand, pointing.

"You belong to me. Body and spark."

SHOCKWAVE.

He hurt him. He hurt his team. His team... He failed them, let them down. He had to find them. Grimlock let the fragments of the acolyte's corpse fall from his palms without a thought; its life was meaningless to him. He never got the chance to hear the explanation of where he was, why he was there, the story of the Lambda before he had crushed the Firstforge's servant just out of pure rage and instinct. His body reacted on its own, his his mind struggling to keep up and make sense of things from the rerouting of energy and power.

Took a lot of willpower to keep it together. Luckily, he had a purpose in mind. Find his team. And then... He wasn't sure what next. Escape. Rejoin the battle. Kill Shockwave. He stalked through the hallways of the temple, hands dripping the remnants of the acolyte's life fluid in a trail behind him.

Final Notes: At this point, Grimlock still is afflicted with Shockwave's inhibitor programming, so he cannot transform. If suitably angered enough, he likely would be able to resist and overwrite that programming, however.

Since this is a re-app, I'd like to app him again with his past memories if that's ok. Grimlock didn't get up to much, but what he was up to was mainly looking out for Swoop, Elita, and crushing whatever got in his way.
